Note:

Purchase from Ken Harrison; 2015.
Although the identity of the letter writer is unconfirmed, he may be Joseph T. Chase, the son of Job (1791-1855) and Nancy Chase (died 1837), who died October 5, 1858 at the age of 35 and is buried in Riverside Cemetery, Orono, Maine. Joseph signs all of his letters, but his signature is difficult to decipher. "Chase" is most likely his surname, but it may also be "Cruse." The recipient is Latinus C. Blaisell (1827-December 14, 1895) of Frankfort, Maine. Joseph makes several mentions of "Brother Ferren," who is Latinus' brother, E. [Ebenezer] Ferren Blaisdel (1822-1901). Ferren later married Nancy Chase (1821-1900), whose relationship to Job and Nancy Chase, if any, is undetermined.
